Polar Bears feel the heat

US lists polar bear as threatened species

I know, I know, it's a US listing. But you have got to love just how contradictory the administration is with regards to themselves. The Interior Department is admitting that the polar bears are now a threatened species due to the melting of the Arctic sea ice, where they reside. But ask them what they plan to do about it, and they talk about "better management of bear habitat on shore and making sure bears aren't threatened by people including hunters". Alas, they say the situation is not the right kind to go down a path of environmental action, for some unfathomable reason - other then the fact that it would mean restricting oil companies that work around the area *GASP*, heaven forbid.
